Tuesday, October 14th

Domenic will facilitate a discussion on the Four Floods. Here is a refomatted version of the email he sent to the group to kick off the week:

The suggested practice is to be aware when you are being flooded by sensuality, becoming, views or ignorance…or all of them at once!  The floods put the hindrances into motion, so by recognizing which flood is pounding on you, you may be able to avert a hindrance.   Insight as to when the floods are activated works to abate emotional and mental suffering…or least it has for me.

This is a YouTube video of a talk on the floods by Ajahn Sucitto, and this is an article (also by Ajahn Sucitto) about the floods in the context of the first paramita.

Please feel free to do your own research.  The best thing about group study is the variety of insights that members bring to the topic.

The schedule is:

6:00 – 6:30 sitting
6:30 – 7:15 discussion
7:15 – 7:30 sitting

The sitting takes place at BIBS – location in the sidebar.

A reminder that later this month, the Beginners Mind Sangha are are offering Five Days of Mindfulness Practice with Chan Huy, a Senior Dharma Teacher in the lineage of Thich Nhat Hanh. Details here.
