Next Tuesday we will be continuing our voyage through Tara Brach’s book True Refuge with a discussion of chapters 3 and 4. The chapters are “Meditation – the path to presence”, and “Three Gateways to Refuge”.

We had good discussion and participation for the first two chapters, so I hope many of you will be there for these next chapters, even if you’re not reading the book.

The schedule is:

6:00 – 6:30 sitting
6:30 – 7:15 discussion
7:15 – 7:30 sitting

The sitting takes place at BIBS.

Saturday September 12th and Tuesday, September 15th

We have two events in the next week. On Saturday, September 12th we are sitting and walking all morning: 9am to 12:30pm – alternating 30 minute periods. Come for some or all of the morning.

And then a few days later for our evening meeting, another third Tuesday comes around and we will be sitting, walking and sitting – the evening will be silent. No discussion is planned, so no reading.

The schedule is:

6:00 – 6:30 sitting
6:30 – 7:00 walking
7:00 – 7:30 sitting

We meet at BIBS – location in the sidebar.

Tuesday, September 7th and beyond

Looking beyond next Tuesday, we will be having a half-day sit at BIBS on Saturday, September 12th – 9:00 to 12:00. Sitting and walking, sitting and walking.

Next Tuesday we will be exploring suffering (dukkha) the second mark of existence – dukkha is translated in many ways, suffering is the most common. This is a dharma talk on the subject by Joseph Goldstein and there are an overwhelming set of other resources on the web for us to search out and share.

And there are, of course, a few of examples of suffering in your own life for you to investigate.

Please share anything that you enjoy with the group.

The schedule is:

6:00 – 6:30 sitting
6:30 – 7:15 discussion
7:15 – 7:30 sitting

The sitting takes place at BIBS – location in the sidebar.
