Tuesday, March 1st

Do you always believe your thoughts?

For the first (back2basics) Tuesday of next month we will be continuing our meander through the online Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation course offered by IMC. This online course is supplemented with written material, exercises, and reflections for bringing the practice into daily life. The course is not live, so it can be done any time during the day.

This week we will be moving on to Week 4: Thinking.

The schedule is:

6:00 – 6:30 sitting
6:30 – 7:15 discussion
7:15 – 7:30 sitting

The sitting takes place at BIBS.

Tuesday, February 23rd

Next Tuesday we will be completing our voyage through Tara Brach’s book True Refuge with a discussion of chapters 14 Refuge in Awareness, and chapter 15 A Heart That Is Ready For Anything.

Bring along any ideas that you have for a book that we can work through next.

The schedule is:

6:00 – 6:30 sitting
6:30 – 7:15 discussion
7:15 – 7:30 sitting

The sitting takes place at BIBS.

Saturday February 6th and Tuesday, February 9th

We have two events in the next week. On Saturday, we are sitting and walking all morning: 9am to 12:30pm – alternating 30 minute periods. Come for some or all of the morning.

And then a few days later for our evening meeting, we will be discussing conflict and how we practice with it – here is the email that I sent out.

During our discussion of Mindfulness of Emotions last week,  several people mentioned how much difficulty they were having with the news, particularly the coverage of the current Presidential race. So, as I have an interest in conflict resolution and nobody has made any other suggestions, I propose that we spend the next week studying Mindfulness of Conflict. Let’s pay attention to how practice can inform our relationship with the people and things in our life that aren’t behaving correctly 😉 From the closest to us to the people we don’t know, how do we use our practice to help us mediate our relationships and what happens when we forget our good intentions…

Here is a Gil talk on Conflict from Audiodharma and there are several other talks on the subject on that site by Daniel Bowling.

The schedule is:

6:00 – 6:30 sitting
6:30 – 7:00 walking
7:00 – 7:30 sitting

We meet at BIBS – location in the sidebar.
